Join us on Monday, Jan. 20, as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with special programming featuring the Lane College Choir from Jackson, Tennessee. Dr. Yancy Freeman, Chancellor at the University of Tennessee at Martin, and Joyce Washington, community organizer and activist. In addition, photos and video recordings of and about Dr. King will be displayed throughout the museum.
Martin Luther King, Jr., Day is observed annually on the third Monday in January. The day commemorates the life and work of Dr. King, who was a Baptist minister and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
King Day is free with membership or park admission. Children 17 and under, as well as college students and staff with their ID will receive free admission.
Guests are invited to bring non-perishable food items benefitting Helping Hands Ministry. Those who bring a minimum of five non-perishable food items will have admission discounted to $10.
