The WDVX Blue Plate Special is a free, live performance, Monday through Saturday at noon. Happening, at the Knoxville Visitors Center on the corner of Gay Street and Summit Hill Drive in Downtown Knoxville. Hear it on the radio at 89.9 in Clinton or 102.9, Knoxville. The WDVX station broadcasts and webcasts this event around the world, hosted by Red Hickey. So if you can't make it down for a show, listen live online. However, if you're in town, feel free to bring your lunch and join us for real, live music in downtown Knoxville.
Created in 1997, the WDVX "Blue Plate Special" program started broadcasting the same year as a community public radio station from a 14-foot camper studio in Norris, Tennessee. In 2004, the Blue Plate Special started producing live shows in front of an audience at its new home in the Knoxville Visitors Center. The program is now a signature of downtown Knoxville and East Tennessee. From blues to bluegrass, country to Celtic, folk to funk, rockabilly to hillbilly, local to international—it's all part of the real live music on the WDVX.
