Signal Mountain

Named for the land formation known as Signal Point, this Chattanooga suburb is perched on Walden's Ridge overlooking the city. This spot is believed to have been used by Native Americans to signal important messages across great distances; it was also used during the Civil War by Union troops to observe traffic on the Tennessee River.
