Travel to Hendersonville, about 26 minutes north of Nashville, see the historical marker of Johnny Cash’s home located on the Tennessee Music Pathways. One of the most celebrated artists in American music, Johnny Cash moved to Nashville in the late 60s. He viewed an unfinished house in Hendersonville, facing Old Hickory Lake and convinced the builder of the house to finish it for him. The house became a 13,880-square-foot home on 4.6 acres. Johnny Cash and June Carter lived in the house until their deaths in 2003. They were interred at the Hendersonville Memory Gardens, where music fans go to pay their respects to “The Man in Black.”
While in Hendersonville, take advantage of the “City by the Lake” by fishing, boating, kayaking and other water activities on Old Hickory Lake.
