Chris Young, a Grammy- and Academy of Country Music-nominated vocalist, was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He showed an interest in music early on, performing in theatrical productions and absorbing classic country music from his family. By his senior year in high school, he self-released an album before he graduated. He won the USA Network's "Nashville Star" competition and went on to become a platinum-selling artist and a member of the Grand Ole Opry. His style is rooted in traditional country music with a contemporary sensibility.
