Brownie McGhee grew up in Kingsport, Tennessee. His music encompasses folk, acoustic blues, rhythm and blues. He appeared in movies, recorded prolifically and made appearances on television and Broadway. McGhee brought the blues to overseas and mainstream American audiences.
