Visit historic Wartrace and stop by our tasting room.
Wartrace is located in the rolling hills of Tennessee Walking Horse country. We are just a short drive to Shelbyville and Bell Buckle and a little more than an hour from Nashville. Rich in history and having an abundance of natural beauty, Wartrace is the proud home of gorgeous architecture, talented artists and musicians and country charm.
Wartrace is a hub of the Tennessee Walking Horse industry and has been nicknamed “the cradle of the Tennessee Walking Horse.” It is home to the Wartrace Horse Show, held annually since 1906 and the Tennessee Walking Horse National Museum.
Strolling Jim, the first World’s Champion Tennessee Waking Horse, is buried in a pasture behind the Walking Horse Hotel. Foaled in 1936, this former work horse was ridden to the championship by Floyd Carothers at the first Celebration in Shelbyville in 1939. Strolling Jim died in 1957 in the pasture where he spent his last years. Ask for our new wine, Strolling Jim!
At the Tasting Room, not only can you taste and purchase all the Big Creek Winery orchard and vineyard wines, you can shop for locally made products and gifts.
Bring friends and plan a stop for a tasting of our selection of superior wines. There is a nominal fee for Wine Tasting at the Tasting Room.
