First-run movies on 3 outdoor screens with a large concession menu of snacks & heartier fare. The Montana Drive In opened on November 4, 2004 by Ray, Beth & Montana Rhoton.  The purpose was to offer a new kind of nostalgic entertainment for the family, outdoor movies with expanded concessions.  They also own and operate the Oldham Theatre in Winchester and the Capri Theatre in Shelbyville.  If watching a movie under the stars is not what your looking for, please try one of the historic indoor theatres.  Both have been completely restored  to include digital projection and surround sound and are located on or near the downtown square.

                Press Release

As we near the close of 2020, small business owners around the country have pivoted, innovated, and persisted through one of the most trying times in modern history.  Barclays US Consumer Bank inspired small businesses to continue to persevere and help business owners bounce back from the challenging events of 2020.  They sponsored the ‘Small Biz Big Wins’ competition.

The Montana Drive In entered the contest and have reached the finals and we our fellow Tennessean’s to VOTE.  One business owner will win a cash prize of $50,000, and several additional cash prizes will be awarded as well!

The Montana Drive In is one of the Ten Finalist selected out of over 3000 entries.  We are also the only entertainment-based business and the only Tennessee business in the finals.

We submitted 500 words on how the events of 2020 affected our business, its impact, and our perseverance and creativity during the challenging times.  Entries were evaluated by a panel of judges according to the appropriateness to theme, demonstration of perseverance, creativity, innovation and their impact or inspiration to others and or their community.

Winners will be selected by public voting that began on December 4th and run through December 14th.   We need your help!  We need you to help us spread the word that there is a Tennessee business that has an opportunity to win.  We would like other small business owners, people that appreciate the value of a theater in their community and people in the entertainment business that can relate to our struggle to help us race to number one.  You can vote once per day per email through December 14th.
