Uncle Dave Macon Days is an annual Old-Time and Americana Music Festival that celebrates Uncle Dave Macon, legendary Banjo picker, Song Writer and unique Performer who became the first "star" of the Barn Dance, then Grand Ole Opry on WSM Radio in Nashville TN. "UDMD" is a nationally renowned Music Competition and Old Time Clogging, Buck, and Free-Style Dance Competition, a three-day Event that brings over 40,000 Old-Time / Americana Music and Dance Fans to Middle Tennessee every July. Uncle Dave Macon bought his home, at 8372 Woodbury Pike, in 1899. He and his wife raised seven sons there. After Macon's death Opry members helped erect a highway marker wiht an inscription from his song, "How Beautiful Heaven Must Be."
