When the night comes, and the daytime adventures of exploring are over, the Smoke House has other indoor opportunities to keep your interest going. One of them is Music on the Mountain every Friday and Saturday night, featuring live music by legendary, established, and up & coming Singer/Songwriter artist from all over the country, who happen to now call Tennessee their home; Nashville, “Music City USA”.
The Smoke House music room is family friendly - no smoking inside - and no hard liquor served at the show, so children are welcomed and allowed to attend the live show with their parents & grandparents; the Smoke House is one of the few music venues in the country which allows children to attend its shows. Also, the show is free, no cover charge to see some of the best entertainment anywhere. We're pet friendly too. Full menu and beverages, including Beer & Coolers, are served in the music room during the show, making it a Dinner & a Show. You can brown bag your favorite, just not beer.
The room lights are turned down and dimly lit with soft spot lights on the stage and lots of candles making the atmosphere cozy and enchanting for guest and performing artist alike. The walls are covered with old “Hatch Show Prints” featuring legendary artist, antiques, old radios, music instruments, old books, and Grand Ole Opry memorabilia passed on for everyone to enjoy. The stage is adorned with all kinds of music items, candles, lights, posters, wrought iron metal, and such, that many of the entertainers comment that the Smoke House has a better vibe to it and they enjoy playing here more than at the well known music establishments in Nashville such as Tootsie’s Orchard Lounge, the Blue Bird Café, the Wagon Wheel, the Blue Bird, and other famous honky tonks. They say the crowd here at the Smoke House listens to what they have to say in their songs, and that is very powerful stuff for songwriters; it is a more fulfilling experience for them as well, and they give it their all when they sing and play for you.
The music varies from country, to pop, to blues, to soul, some bluegrass, and a little folk here and there making each show something unique every time. Each shows features a primary artist or group first, usually from 7pm to 9pm. Then, a Nashville style songwriter round is next which features 3 or 4 songwriters singing & performing their songs in rotation. Most nights, before the songwriter round, another feature act may perform a short session; say 30 minutes, which gives guest a lot of entertainment variety all on the same stage. What’s unique about songwriters is that you are actually watching, and hearing songs by the person who wrote them. They usually tell a short story about how the song came about, and how they got it to the artist that eventually recorded the record; it’s really interesting to hear it from their version. You may be watching a person sing their song which was recorded by Toby Keith, or Keith Urban, or Hank Williams, Jr., Elton John, Tim McGraw, Kenny Rogers, and many, many others. Where else are you going to get this close up to those people, see them, hear them, shake their hand, and personally talk to them, even give them a tip & buy their CD direct from them? Well, you can right here at the Smoke House.
Just passing thru, come on in and have dinner while you are entertained. Or, come up for the night or weekend, the Smoke House has the Smoke House Mountain Lodge & Cabins next door, along with 21 private Log cabins too; featuring hot tubs, fireplaces, and lots of space for relaxing and privacy.
