The International Storytelling Center is the world's premier institution dedicated to the art of storytelling. It is ISC's goal to inspire and empower people everywhere to capture and tell their stories, listen to the stories of others, and use storytelling to produce positive change.
Each October, since 1973, ISC has staged the acclaimed National Storytelling Festival, a three-day outdoor festival that has been hailed "the leading event of its kind in America" by USA Today. Peppered with the flare and fun of blues, poetry, ballads, banjo, and more, the Festival encompasses a wealth of cultures, geography, and styles, a world of stories within one small, historic town. From May through October, the Center stages Storytelling Live! A teller-in-residence series that features a different nationally-known storyteller each week. They appear in daily matinee concerts, as well as special evening performances, children's concerts, and workshops.
