GCTA operates an eight-court lighted public tennis center, which is open and free to the public 365 days per year. GCTA raised most of the $540,000 needed to build the center, which was constructed with a unique combination of private, local, state, and federal government funding, foundation grants, and a large ($65,000) grant made by the United States Tennis Association as part of its Public Facility Funding program. The center includes a building with a complete kitchen, office, restrooms, and meeting area, six hard courts, and two Har-Tru courts which are available to members who pay a small annual fee. The center is one of the few public tennis centers in Tennessee which provide Har-Tru courts, especially attractive to older players. USTA programs and events are featured at the center. GCTA is a member of the USTA (the governing body of the sport), the Southern Tennis Association, and the Tennessee Tennis Association and fully supports those organizations.
