Ocoee Yurt Company

The Ocoee Yurt Company is located a short drive from the Ocoee Whitewater Center, home of the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Kayaking competition. The Ocoee Yurt Company is fully equipped for an extended stay, or a short weekend, and outdoor activities abound in the surrounding area! In addition to simply amazing kayaking and whitewater rafting on the Ocoee River, guests can enjoy awesome mountain biking in the area, including trails at the Ocoee Whitewater Center, home of the Cohutta 100 and Black Bear Rampage mountain bike races. Other great mountain biking can be found in nearby Cherokee National Forest, including the Chilhowee and Brush Creek Trail systems! The Cherokee National Forest also is home to amazing hiking. Several whitewater rafting and kayaking outfitters are located within a few miles of the property. Several new zipline adventures are also available near the property! Each yurt has a private restroom and is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, tv/vcr combo and coffeemaker. On the deck of each yurt, you will find a full-sized gas grill with side burner and a patio-style table and chairs. Each yurt is equipped with a queen-sized bed and a futon. There is plenty of room to sleep others on air mattresses or sleeping bags. The property also includes an outdoor shower, picnic pavilion, bike wash and fire pit. Come kick off your shoes after a long day on the bike or kayak and enjoy a cold one by the fire! And, what is a yurt, you might ask. A Yurt is a portable structure much like those used by nomadic tribes in Mongolia over 2000 years ago. The domed, tent-like structure sits upon a tongue-and-groove wood floor to create an efficient shelter that is environmentally friendly. Today's yurts are quite high tech. They are built to withstand 100 mph winds. With bubble wrap insulation developed by NASA, our yurts provide warmth in the winter and a cool feel in the summer. Seams are electronically welded, which give the roof amazing strength and durability. Sturdy fir rafters and steel rivets support the cone-shaped top which includes a skylight at the apex. This overhead view and abundant light give the yurt an open, airy feel. Our yurts offer an experience close to nature, with all the comforts of home. Each yurt has amazing views of the surrounding mountains from the deck, and each has its own private restroom. The property is equipped with a picnic pavilion, bike wash, outdoor shower and fire pit, making this a one-of-a kind vacation adventure!
