The Eureka Trail, a rail to trail conversion, located in McMinn County, Tennessee, is a 5.6 mile multipurpose trail connecting the town of Englewood and the, City of Athens. The Eureka Trail is a family friendly, ADA accessible trail surrounded by nature and conveniently located between Knoxville and Chattanooga. The Eureka Trail welcomes walkers, runners, joggers, bicyclists, and equestrians. The packed level, maintained, gravel surface is great for beginner and veteran cyclists because of the trail’s slight grade.
Along the trail you will also find numbered tree markers which are part of the trails tree identification program. These markers pay homage to one of the trails most cherished assets, the beautiful trees. Teachers, amateur arborists and nature lovers are invited to try their hand at tree identification by downloading the tree identification guide from the City of Athens website at athenstn.gov/parks.
