More than 700 re-enactors from across the country will gather 9 a.m. Nov. 15-16 to commemorate the Battle of Franklin at Eastern Flank Battlefield Park near Carnton Plantation.
The battle, which was fought on Nov. 30, 1864, was one of the most terrible conflicts of the Civil War and resulted in approx. 10,000 casualties in five hours.
Spectators at the re-enactment will be able to watch two separate battle scenarios unfold. Re-enactors will be encamped on site and spectators will be able shop at nearby sutler locations. There will also be food and beverages for sale.
The re-enactments will begin at 2 p.m. each day. The event will involve strictly infantry and artillery, and there will be heavy and concentrated fire. Attendees should be aware that a substantial artillery barrage will be part of both days’ event.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are now available. Tickets will remain on sale until Oct. 31 unless they sell out. Please note that separate tickets must be purchased for Saturday and Sunday, and space is limited.
In the event of inclement weather the event will not be rescheduled. Tickets are non-refundable but may be applied to the price of a future individual house tour at Carnton Plantation or The Carter House with no expiration.
The Eastern Flank Battlefield Park is located at 1345 Eastern Flank Circle in Franklin, Tenn. A ticket to the re-enactment does not provide admission to Carnton Plantation or the grounds. To tour the normal grounds or house, attendees will need to purchase an additional ticket on site. Regular house tours will stop between 1:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 15-16 during the re-enactment.
