Get ready to dive into two worlds of wonder and excitement at the highest-rated aquarium in America. Chattanooga’s skyline showcases six magnificent glass peaks that top the Tennessee Aquarium’s River Journey and Ocean Journey buildings.

Begin your experience among the most diverse gathering of freshwater animals in the country living within River Journey. Your adventure begins in a walk-through Cove Forest with free-flying native songbirds, lush plants and rushing waterfalls. River Otter Falls features a romp of furry, feisty and fun otters. While watching them playfully exploring their habitat, you’ll discover their fascinating comeback story in Tennessee. The first of many conservation stories you’ll come to appreciate at the Aquarium while following the path of water as it flows from the mountains to the sea.

Prehistoric-looking sturgeon, giant catfish, colorful trout, alligators and turtles by the ton will also amaze and delight you within River Journey. Don’t miss opportunities to meet additional animals from around the world during special presentations in Ranger Rick’s Backyard Safari and fascinating seahorses on the lower level of River Journey.

The fun continues within Ocean Journey where visitors peer into the saltwater realm where 10-foot sharks, green sea turtles, dazzling reef fish and graceful stingrays glide through amazing coral formations. Visitors of all ages enjoy dipping their hands into the tropical waters of Stingray Bay to gently touch a variety of gentle rays.

Delight as a multitude of beautiful free-flying butterflies flutter around you within the Butterfly Garden. Then explore the chilly world of “Penguins’ Rock,” the home of amazing Gentoo and Macaroni penguins. You’ll become mesmerized by the weird and wonderful creatures in the “Boneless Beauties” and “Jellies: Living Art” galleries. You’ll enjoy viewing graceful jellyfish, Giant Pacific Octopus, captivating cuttlefish and a bustling live coral reef community.

Get up close to wonders of nature above and below the water. Experience two aquariums in one great city, Chattanooga. Outside the Aquarium, downtown Chattanooga offers a scenic riverfront with miles of parks and public art, all surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains.
