Pal Barger, owner, opened the first Pal’s here in 1956. Over 50 years later, there are 22 locations. This first drive-thru-only concept was created on the back of a napkin and is known for “great food in a flash.” Pal’s is the first restaurant to win the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award, and the first organization to twice receive the Tennessee National Excellence Award. Pal's features burgers (as in the regular variety or the more adventurous "sauceburgers," and "chiliburgers,") hotdogs, cheddar rounds and some awesomely famous freshly steeped iced tea. The award-winning Pal's also whips up sandwiches, such as chipped ham, toasted cheese, and frenchie fries (golden-brown shoestring potatoes topped with special seasoning salt). Stop by for breakfast and get a hearty country ham biscuit. Or, your choice of a gravy biscuit, a butter biscuit or a bacon biscuit.
