Spend a wonderful day in historic Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Mount Pleasant today looks much like it did in the early 1900's. This sleepy little town , once know as the "Phosphate Capital of the World" is home to the Mid-South Barbecue Festival. The third weekend of October finds the Historic Downtown filled with professional barbecue teams from across the county competing for the title of Mid-South Grand Champion and a chance to enter the Jack Daniels Invitational Barbecue Competition. An old fashioned home town festival, complete with a children's costume contest and a scarecrow contest, along with great entertainment and food and crafts vendors makes the Mid-South Barbecue Festival feel like coming home. Mount Pleasant is the southern most stop on the "Soldiers to Settlers " Old Tennessee Trails. Visit our shops and restaurants, drive through our beautiful neighborhoods and meet our friendly citizens. It just feels like home.
