The International Storytelling Center is the world's premier institution dedicated to improving lives and work through the power of storytelling. In 1973 Jonesborough residents rolled an old wagon into Courthouse Square to share stories. The event, the highly acclaimed National Storytelling Festival, ignited a revival of storytelling that has swept the nation and the globe. This facility stands as a beacon for storytelling. The annual festival, now in its 34th year, is the world's premier storytelling event - showcasing stories, storytellers, and storytelling traditions. From June to October, the Center hosts Storyteling Live! - a series of performances, workshops and presentations featuring our Teller-in-Residence.
