Hale Springs Inn is Tennessee's oldest operating inn. It was built in 1824 by John A. McKinney. It has museum-quality antiques and paintings and offers fine amenities and quality service. Three United States Presidents have stayed at the inn: Andrew Jackson, Andrew Johnson, and James K. Polk. Hale Springs Inn was used as the headquarters and hospital for the Union Army in the Civil war while the Confederates were headquartered directly across the street. The inn will be opening in June and now features blended decor to meet the needs of the everyday traveler.
