Long considered the mother church of Tennessee, it is now the official Cathedral of the Diocese, consisting of 50 parishes and missions.
The present Victorian Gothic church was designed by Francis Hatch Kimball of New York. The tower, designed by local architect Russell E. Hart was added in 1947.
