Rick Meredith
Assistant Commissioner, Tennessee Department of Economic & Community Development
Rick Meredith is the Assistant Commissioner of Business Services for the Department of Economic and Community Development. He oversees the FastTrack Job Training Program and the Business Enterprise Resource Office as well as the division's regional offices.
Prior to accepting this position, Meredith was Director of Community Development for ECD, during which he oversaw the Governor's Three-Star Program and served as liaison to the Tennessee Military Affairs Commission.
Before joining the Bredesen Administration, Meredith served as the Register of Deeds for Anderson County. He managed all public recording of instruments and an office budget of approximately $250,000 annually and was responsible for starting electronic imaging of recorded documents in Anderson County. During his tenure, he was the first to establish Internet access for recorded land records in the United States. In addition to these accomplishments, Meredith was chosen as "Tennessee's Register of the Year" in 1996.
Meredith formerly served as president of the County Officials Association of Tennessee, Tennessee Registers Association, and the East Tennessee Registers Association. He has also served on the board of directors for the County Officials Association of Tennessee and the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce.
He attended the University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service and is a Certified Public Administrator.
