Bristol Motor Speedway is known as the "World's Fastest Half Mile." Several times each year, 160,000 racing fans gather at the .533-mile concrete oval with its 36-degree banked corners to watch some of the most exciting racing on the NASCAR and Busch series circuits. Country music star Brenda Lee sang the national anthem for the first race at Bristol Motor Speedway in 1961.

Tennessee has more than 45 speedways, racetracks and dragways across the state. Some are sanctioned by NASCAR and some run regional and local stock, drag and mini car competitions on paved and dirt tracks.
