Start your safari in Grand Junction, located in the southwest portion of the state at the National Bird Dog Museum, Field Trial Hall of Fame and Wildlife Heritage Center. This unique museum preserves and protects the history and future of sporting dog breeds and organizes related field trials across America. This museum and nature experience is ideal for anyone who loves outdoors and hunting with a bird dog. Exploring this museum will only take a couple of hours, so you can continue on to Memphis and the Ducks Unlimited National Headquarters.
North America’s largest wetlands conservation organization, Ducks Unlimited National Headquarters is open for tours and displays of wetlands ecosystems Monday through Friday. Visitors can learn about the conservation, restoration and management of North America’s waterfowl wetlands.
Once you’ve learned about wetlands, waterfowl and hunting, travel upstream a few hours to Reelfoot Lake, one of the few regions in the country so abundant in waterfowl. Reelfoot Lake offers more than hunting, though. Created by earthquakes and the only naturally made lake in Tennessee, Reelfoot offers hunting, fishing, birding, hiking, water recreation, and more. Fishing and hunting packages are available for lodging in the Reelfoot Lake Sportsman Resort. Located in the northwest corner of the state, Reelfoot may take a while to reach. But because this area is so plentiful in beautiful scenery and outdoor activities, you may find yourself setting up camp here for quite a few days.
