Festival HQ
Tennessee hits the festival high notes, with choices from Rolling Stone's Best Festival 2008 to the largest country music celebration in the world to a blues-based bash. The diversity is as broad as the state, with a history of great performers and traditions as well as new genres. After all, our state quarter shows three instruments: a fiddle for East Tennessee; a guitar for Middle Tennessee's country music; and a trumpet for the jazz and blues of Memphis. Sheet music on the coin emphasizes the impact of the Volunteer State's national and international musical legacy.

Brother, can you spare a million?
The "Million Dollar Quartet" was the name given to an impromptu jam session on December 4, 1956 in Memphis' Sun Studios. Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash all happened to be in the studio at the same time, and Sun owner Sam Phillips turned on the tapes to record the moment for posterity.
