Wilderness Resort to Open Racing Slide
Wilderness at the Smokies has begun construction on a new $1 million outdoor waterslide. The Cyclone Racer, is expected to be completed April 1, and will feature four high-speed racing lanes fueled by 1,200 gallons of water per minute. The Cyclone Racer will share the same tower as the Wild Vortex, a 66-foot, near vertical waterslide that opened last summer and features a translucent circular tube that sends riders down through a trap door. At 50 feet high, the Cyclone Racer is located beneath the Wild Vortex. A portion of the slide is enclosed and will veer off to the side and curve back around before shooting riders into a pool of water.
