Union Gives $50,000 to Museum

The union who brought Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Memphis in 1968 donated $50,000 to the renovation at the National Civil Rights Museum. AFSCME, Local 1733, and its international union partnered in the donation.  The gift is to be used as part of the $27 million face-lift. The union played a pivotal role in establishing the site as a museum. King died on the balcony of the old Lorraine Motel, which now is part of the facade of the museum.
