GSMNP Superintendent Dale Ditmanson Retires
Dale Ditmanson, Great Smoky Mountains National Park Superintendent, retired on January 3, 2014 after 36 years with the National Park Service. He served in the Smokies as Superintendent since May of 2004 and led the park through a variety of projects, including the Park’s 75th Anniversary in 2009. Superintendent Ditmanson was a champion and active participant in the sustainable tourism summit led by Tourist Development. A celebration of his accomplishments was held at the Park Vista Hotel in Gatlinburg and was attended by Commissioner Susan Whitaker, numerous other regional and community leaders as well as friends and family.
