Gourmet Goodies
What do Southerners love as much as their biscuits and breads? Good things to put on them! We top these light and fluffy creations with molasses, honey, chocolate gravy, fresh butter, assorted meats and cheeses, jellies, jams, and the ever wonderful preserves. Homemade preserves are quite possibly the perfect compliment to the southern biscuit.
Jones Orchard, Millington, makes scrumptious homemade apple butter and three flavors of preserves--peach, strawberry and apple--as well as many varieties of jelly. From Cracker Barrel, try chow-chow, a sweet, pickled relish traditionally made in the south that utilizes vegetables left over at the end of the summer's harvest. Need more of a kick? Brother Juniper's, Memphis, has Garlic Pepper, Louisiana Chipotle, Traditional Select and six flavors of spreadable fruit.
Visit the Bell Buckle Country Store for a large assortment of the award-winning Rose and Ivy dessert and salad toppings, wine jellies, jams and drink blends, or take home a stash of Captain Rodney's famous dessert glazes, sauces, salsas and pepper jellies. Many Tennessee wineries, distilleries and farms have their own special brands of cheese, jellies, sauces and other flourishes to make good food great.
