Concert and Conversation: Divided & United: Music of the Civil War with Randall Poster, Bryan Sutton, Stuart Duncan, and Lee Ann Womack
Created in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Divided & United is a compilation of Civil War era songs freshly interpreted by a diverse group of artists that includes emerging talents as well as members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Country Music Hall of Fame. Music supervisor Randall Poster—whose work includes Moonrise Kingdom and Boardwalk Empire—was inspired to begin the project after working on the motion picture Country Strong. Master guitarist Bryan Sutton assisted in the research and compilation of songs in addition to playing on the album. Poster, Sutton, and singer Lee Ann Womack will join Nashville Scene editor Jim Ridley for a discussion about the project, which featured artists such as Ashley Monroe, Carolina Chocolate Drops, Cowboy Jack Clement, Del McCoury, Jamey Johnson, Loretta Lynn, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Ricky Skaggs. Sutton and Womack will perform selections from the album along with fiddler Stuart Duncan who is also featured on the album. Takes place in the Museum’s Ford Theater. Museum admission or Museum membership required for program admittance. Limited seating available. Program pass required. Visit CountryMusicHallofFame.org for details.
