The Morton Museum of Collierville History will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Collierville October 4-6, 2013 with a weekend long series of events. The Museum will host a Civil War symposium, performances by professional storyteller Judith Black, of an original story set during the October 11, 1863 battle in Collierville, and musical performance by The 52nd Regimental String Band.
The weekend will also give visitors an opportunity to take a guided Civil War walking tour of the Historic District to get a sense of how the battle unfolded in 1863. There will also be guided tours of the Magnolia Cemetery in Collierville, which is the final resting place for 58 Confederate soldiers and officers.
These programs are produced with support from the Tennessee Civil War National Heritage Area, which receives funding from the National Park Service.
