Autumn in the Oaks
Teachers and parents plan to spend your fall field day on the grounds of the elegant Oaklands Mansion. Under the beautiful leaves of fall, teachers and families can guide children through activities, games, and pastimes of the harvest season as well as experience chores from the 1860’s. Children will have the hands-on opportunity to wash clothes on a washboard and churn butter. “Autumn in the Oaks” will take place October 4, 2013 from 9:00-1:00p.m. with an admission of $5 per person. Explore the science, nature, history and art of the season through this self-guided experience designed to enhance your classroom curriculum and inspire an appreciation of our local history with students. This event is the fall version of our popular educational field days of “Washing Churning & Learning”. Bring your own blankets and sack lunches to have an old fashioned picnic under the colorful fall foliage. Parking and check-in will be at the pavilion on Roberts Street. Public, private and home school groups welcome. For more information and reservations, please call 893-0022 or email email@example.com
