REENACTMENTS AND CIVIL WAR DEMONSTRATIONS PART OF BLUE & GRAY DAYS

The Battle of Franklin Trust will host its annual Blue & Gray Days 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 14-15 at Carnton Plantation.

Guests will have the opportunity to witness Civil War era living historians, including a period photographer and blacksmith, as they demonstrate tasks from 1860s daily life. Re-enactors from the 19th Alabama Civilians, a Civil War living history and reenactment group, will set up a full Civil War era camp with an operational kitchen, bath house, chuck wagon and more. 

Visitors can enjoy hearing traditional slave spirituals performed by The Princely Players and may recognize some famous faces from history among the crowd, such as Abraham Lincoln, Patrick Cleburne and Ulysses S. Grant.

 

Blue & Gray Days will be closed to the general public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accommodate school visits Nov. 14. Tours will begin for the general public at 1:30 p.m. and continue until 4 p.m.

 

Blue & Gray Days will continue 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with guided tours ending at 4 p.m. Nov. 15. Carnton Plantation home tours will stop from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. for the 150th reenactment of the Battle of Franklin.

 

Tickets to explore the grounds and take a guided tour of Carnton Plantation are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors over 65 and $8 for children ages 6 to12. A Blue & Gray Days grounds pass is available for only $5, but does not include a home tour.
