ANDREW JACKSON’S 247TH BIRTHDAY CELEBRATED AT THE HERMITAGE

In commemoration of Andrew Jackson’s 247th birthday, an all-day celebration will take place beginning at 9:30 a.m. March 15 at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage.

In commemoration of Andrew Jackson’s 247th birthday, an all-day celebration will take place beginning at 9:30 a.m. March 15 at Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage.

The festivities will include family programs and a wreath-laying ceremony featuring guest speakers U.S. Senator Bob Corker and The Honorable Andrew Jackson, VI accompanied by the Tennessee National Guard to add military distinction. There will be lectures, children’s activities and birthday cake throughout the day. 

“We look forward to celebrating with pageantry Andrew Jackson’s birthday because it gives us a unique opportunity to further explore his life and accomplishments through special programs and lectures. We’re especially honored to have U.S. Senator Bob Corker and The Honorable Andrew Jackson, VI on hand for the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at Andrew and Rachel Jackson’s tomb,” said Howard J. Kittell, president and CEO of The Hermitage.

Ongoing activities include half-off public admission, a film and multimedia tours. Family programs throughout the day include activities that explore the use of tools on plantations, spring planting and music of Jackson’s era. Hermitage wagon tours will also be offered for an additional charge starting at 10 a.m.
